Brantly smacks 3-run homer, Rainiers record another shutout

Rob Brantly hit a three-run homer and the Tacoma Rainiers earned their second straight shutout, 4-0, at Round Rock in a Pacific Coast League game Wednesday night.

Starting pitcher Joe Wieland (4-3) held the Express scoreless on five hits in 51/3 innings, while striking out five and issuing zero walks. He retired 12 straight batters in one stretch.

Paul Fry, Jonathan Aro, David Rollins, and Mayckol Guaipe combined to work the final 32/3 innings for Tacoma, holding Round Rock scoreless while only allowing one hit and striking out three.

Stefen Romero and Daniel Robertson each had two hits.
