Ariel Miranda, who was acquired from Baltimore in the deal that sent Wade Miley to the Baltimore Orioles, was named Thursday’s starter. He will face Red Sox left-hander Drew Pomeranz in the series finale.
Miranda, who was optioned to Class AAA Tacoma after the trade, has made 19 starts for Class AAA Norfolk this season, posting a 4-7 record with a 3.93. He’s recorded 87 strikeouts while walking 31.
The 27-year-old left-hander faced the Mariners this season in his only major-league appearance, allowing three runs on four hits in two innings of relief.
