Just told her I was interested in the position, and I believe she either called back and set up an interview, or set one up during that call, can’t remember. When I applied at Fred Meyer in the past, I received a call from the HR person after applying, but it may vary from store to store.
I would assume it also varies from store to store when it comes to time off. My store is pretty cool with it, you just have to request them off at least 3 weeks before using the online scheduling program. No one has ever had an issue with it at my store that I know of, and I have a friend at both a different QFC and a fred meyer and I believe both have taken some time off.
