We’re well and truly in the Stepback Swamp now, with the Mariners blending enticing moments with a pitching staff and defense just too limited to match their typically explosive if enigmatic offense. Today Marco Gonzales will look to roughly replicate Tommy Milone’s perfectly respectable outing yesterday, while Texas gives The Opener a go to aid their slipshod rotation. Domingo Santana gets a scheduled day off and Seattle packs the deck with lefties against Jesse Chavez, who recently expressed the opinion that this strategy is “not baseball”. He’ll be followed by Skyline High School grad and former Mariner Adrian Sampson.
