SEATTLE — The young Seattle Mariners delivered in their home opener.
Center fielder Kyle Lewis kept his hitting magic alive and starting pitcher Taijuan Walker dazzled in his return to the Emerald City, as the Ms (4-4) topped the Oakland A’s (3-4) at T-Mobile Park 5-3 Friday night. It marked the club’s third straight win.
Apart from one inning of poor relief pitching, the victory marked one of the Mariners’ most complete performances of the 2020 season. Seattle led 5-0 heading into the sixth inning, but coughed up three runs in the eighth.
The team has now won four home openers in a row.
