Rays probably got the better asset for the time of the trade, while the M’s still got a guy with upside who had options to act as the starting depth that Erasmo couldn’t fulfill being out of options.
Obviously in results it’s been quite a success, but Monty isn’t the guy he was at the beginning of the year. It’s an upside buy gone right. Still worth noting that Montgomery’s HR/FB and LOB% will regress and he’ll get significantly worse results, while Erasmo’s been doing pretty well recently in his own right.
