2B Jorge Polanco to the 10-day IL with hamstring injury, creating space for 2B Ryan Bliss’ big league debut

The Seattle Mariners announced today that they have placed veteran 2B Jorge Polanco on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain. Correspondingly, they have called up 2B Ryan Bliss to make his major league debut, with Bliss starting in tonight’s lineup at second and hitting eighth. In order to create a space on the 40-man roster, the M’s have recalled injured utilityman Sam Haggerty and placed him on the 60-day IL with his torn Achilles tendon.

The news is not surprising after Polanco spent nearly the entire road trip unable to play, followed by leaving Sunday’s game early with discomfort.
