The Miami Marlins have traded one of their best players. No, it's not Giancarlo Stanton. Instead, the Marlins have dealt Dee Gordon to the Seattle Mariners.

Rosenthal also reports that RHP Nick Neidert is heading to the Marlins. He was Seattle's second round pick in 2015. It's unclear if the Marlins are getting anyone else in return. Seattle is also netting about $1 million in international bonus money, potentially to be used for Shohei Ohtani.
The Marlins dealt Gordon at least in part because of his contract, which owes him $10.5 million this year and then an average of $13.5 million over the next three years. There is a buyout of $1 million before the last year of his deal.
After a bad 2016 season, Gordon bounced back last year. The speedy Gordon hit .308 with 33 RBIs and 60 stolen bases.
Gordon played second base (winning a Gold Glove)for the Marlins, but that doesn't appear to be his home for the Mariners. Rather, he'll play CF.

That would mean Robinson Cano is staying at second base and Jean Segura stays at short.
