The Seattle Mariners have been on the lookout for a left-handed platoon partner for the recently-acquired Justin Ruggiano. It appears they may have found their man.
Per Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Mariners are rekindling their interest in a player they've coveted for a long time, San Diego Padres outfielder Seth Smith:

There have been no full indications given as to who exactly the Mariners will have to give up to land Smith, but Lookout Landing's Scott Weber believes that the "worst case scenario is Brandon Maurer, but a more likely scenario here is probably Carson Smith."
Smith has two years left on his current deal at $12.75 million combined with a $7 million option for 2017.
