SANTA CLARA, Calif. – West Coast Conference play beginning seemed to get Santa Clara women's soccer back on track with a convincing 2-0 win over San Diego Saturday afternoon. It was the team's first home match since August 29.
The Broncos (4-4-2, 1-0 WCC) came out on the front foot and showed their offensive prowess through the full 90 minutes. They finished the game with 33 shots, 13 on target. On the defensive side, they allowed just five shots to the Toreros (5-4-, 0-1 WCC) who put three on frame.
The goals came from Sally Menti in the 27th on assists from Emma Reeves and Skylar Smith and Kelsey Turnbow in the 57th off an assist from Izzy D'Aquila.
