ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – Helped by three top-5 individual finishes, Santa Clara women's golf held on to claim the team title at the shortened Cal Poly Invitational, holding off the hosts for a nine-shot victory with a tournament total 22-over 598. The event was shortened to two rounds after fog delayed Saturday's start.
First-round leader Kyleigh Moreno carded a final-round 77 to slip into a tie for second-place with teammate Marni Murez at 3-over 147. Murez shot a personal-best round of 2-under 70 on Sunday. The two finished one-shot back of medalist Samantha Martirez of Cal Baptist, who carded a 73 on Sunday for a 146 total.
