SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Mitchell White delivered the best outing of his collegiate career for Santa Clara baseball Saturday night. The San Jose native allowed only one run in his first complete game with the Broncos and struck out a career-high 15 batters in a 9-1 win over Portland at Schott Stadium.
The Broncos (22-26, 9-14 WCC) have won their first West Coast Conference series of the season and first series overall since opening weekend against Notre Dame. They defeated the Pilots (17-21, 3-20) 9-5 Friday night.
White (W, 3-6) threw 100 pitches and allowed only four hits and did not issue a walk in his 14th start of the year.
