SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Mitchell White spun 7.0 shutout frames and Kert Woods drove in two runs to help Santa Clara baseball defeat San Francisco 2-0 in the 2016 West Coast Conference opener Friday night from Schott Stadium. The Bronco starter set a single-game best mark with 12 strikeouts and Woods extended his hitting streak to six games as part of the victory.
The win marked Bronco head coach Dan O'Brien's 100th career victory at the helm of Santa Clara's program.
White (W, 2-2) pitched a pair of 1-2-3 innings and allowed six hits with no walks for the Broncos (8-8).
