Warriors Leaving More Than Oracle Behind

Will changing cities dilute the team’s fan base even further?

(ANNIKA TIÑA) The Golden State Warriors—originally located in Philadelphia before moving to San Francisco in 1962—have called Oracle Arena in Oakland home since 1971. Next season, however, the team will venture westward across the Bay Bridge to their new home, the Chase Center, leaving some long-time fans even further removed.

Last Sunday, the Golden State Warriors played their final home game of the regular season. That is not particularly newsworthy in itself, but the night was especially significant for the entire Warriors organization and its loyal fans.
