SAN JOSE, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball swept Villanova in a doubleheader played at Mission College Sunday. The Broncos (9-4) took the first game 8-2 with before walking off the Wildcats (1-13) 5-3 in 11 innings in the finale.
The win in game one was the 100th as a collegiate head coach from Rusty Filter.
Game 1 It started on the mound with Brandon Gomez who made his first Santa Clara start. Gomez (2-0) allowed just one unearned run over 6 innings of work while punching out seven and not allowing a walk.
Plenty of runs and good pitching was the winning formula once again for the Broncos in game one.
