WASHINGTON — On the second day of the 2017 season, Santa Clara volleyball picked up a match victory and a share of the D.C. Volleyball Challenge crown. The Broncos defeated Georgetown 25-23, 14-25, 20-25, 25-7, 15-12 in the first bout and fell to Howard 25-21, 25-17, 19-25, 28-26 in the nightcap; they split the tournament title with the Hoyas.
MATCH 1: Broncos Bounce Back to Upend Hoyas
Michelle Gajdka topped the Broncos (2-0) with 15 kills, while Hailey Lindberg had 10 kills on an efficient .450 hitting percentage. Kirsten Mead tallied a 37-assist, 10-dig double-double and Tatiana San Juan led Santa Clara with 13 digs.
