LOS ANGELES — The Santa Clara University volleyball team battled hard in Saturday's final set, but host LMU was still able to pull off a sweep, beating the Broncos, 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-20), in a West Coast Conference match at Gersten Pavilion.
Santa Clara (8-16, 4-8 WCC) was within one at 21-20 in the third set, but the Lions (14-7, 9-3 WCC) scored each of the last four points to escape with a 25-20 set win and clinch the sweep. The Broncos found their rhythm and came on strong in the third, hitting .314 with 13 team kills only two errors.
