SAN DIEGO, CALIF. — After scoring within the first minute of the match, Santa Clara Women’s Soccer’s offense was held to one goal for the remainder of regulation against San Diego last Thursday. Not to be shut out, the Toreros finally responded with a goal in the 89th minute, sending the match into overtime. During the first play of extra time, Santa Clara junior midfielder Kelcie Hedge placed the ball behind San Diego’s defense while first-year midfielder Skylar Smith ran it down, kicked it over the Torero keeper’s head and secured a Broncos win.
Santa Clara’s regular season concludes this Saturday on Senior Day as the Broncos host Pacific at 1 p.
