SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Santa Clara softball earned a split on the final day of the NorCal Kickoff, falling to UC Santa Barbara 2-0 in the day's opener before coming back with a 7-4 victory over Sacramento State in the afternoon.
GAME 1 Alyssa Molina (1-1) was terrific in the complete game shutout and earned her first win of the year. She allowed seven hits and two walks while punching out three. The lone runs came in the third after the Gauchos (1-4) loaded the bases with no outs behind a pair of singles and a hit batter.
The Broncos (2-3) ended up on the wrong end of a pitcher's duel in the first game of the day.
