SAN JOSE, Calif. – Santa Clara softball got its offense going early and a strong pitching performance in a 4-1 win at San Jose State Friday evening.
The Broncos (3-6) scored single runs in the first and second off RBIs from Emma Bickford and Bailey McLaughlin. The bats woke up again in the fifth as Santa Clara added a pair of insurance runs. The big play in the fifth was a sac fly by Kat Sanchez that scored two runs after an error by the Spartans (3-10).
Bickford finished the day with a pair of hits, including a double.
