SANTA CLARA -- Score one for the hometown: Santa Clara University's smooth-running Saturday festival was one big happy and hype-filled hurrah.
The Super Community Celebration, part of National Football League festivities leading up to today's game, offered fans an opportunity to bask in football fantasies and the brilliant February sun.The event was free to local residents. The highlight of the afternoon was a celebrity flag football game -- played on a soccer field, since the Jesuit campus long ago opted out of the sport -- featuring former NFL quarterback Doug Flutie, Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins and others, joined by military veterans in the Wounded Warriors program.
