SANTA CLARA, Calif. – A strong first-half finish was the difference in San Francisco's 70-61 victory over Santa Clara men's basketball in Thursday's West Coast Conference battle.
Trailing by as many as a dozen points in the second half, Santa Clara (18-8, 5-6) got within five on three straight 3-pointers with six minutes to go but could not get over the hump.
San Francisco (17-10, 6-6) had an answer after each time, pushing the lead out to double digits before settling for the nine-point win and sweep in the season series.
Jamaree Bouyea scored a game-high 17 points to lead four players in double figures for San Francisco.
