Report: Santa Clara hires Herb Sendek as men's basketball coach

Santa Clara University has hired former Arizona State basketball coach Herb Sendek as its new head man, it's being reported by CBS Sports.

Sendek, 53, did not coach this past season after being fired by the Sun Devils at the end of the 2014-15 season. In nine years at ASU, he compiled a 155—133 overall record, but he was only 68—86 in Pac-12 conference games and never finished higher than second. The Sun Devils advanced to the NCAA Tournament twice during Sendek's tenure.Sendek, who also has been a head coach at Miami (Ohio) and North Carolina State, replaces Kerry Keating, who was let go after the Broncos went 11-20 overall and 7-11 in the West Coast Conference this season.
