SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball scored 10 unanswered runs including Matt Jew's go-ahead three-run homer in the fifth and the Broncos bullpen allowed just one unearned run to take the series opener 12-5 over CSU Bakersfield on Friday night.
Santa Clara (10-5) collected 12 hits on the evening and got long balls from Jew and Ryan McCarthy who had four RBIs each.
The Broncos trailed 5-2 in the home half of the fifth when Matt Erickson got the offense rolling with a single off Roadrunner starter Aaron Charles to lead off the inning.
