SANTA CLARA, Calif. – No. 7 Santa Clara women's soccer grinded out a 3-2 come-from-behind overtime victory over Portland Friday night at home to move into a tie for first place in the West Coast Conference.
The Broncos (13-2-1, 4-1 WCC) once again controlled the game, outshooting the Pilots (10-6, 3-2 WCC) 25-5 while putting 13 shots on frame and staying in the Portland half of the field for much of the second half.
With the score even at 2-all in the 92nd minute, Maria Sanchez was taken down in the box for the second time in under three minutes, leading to a penalty kick.
