SANTA CLARA, Calif. – No. 19 Santa Clara women's soccer used its potent offense to top Cal 4-1 Monday night in the home-opener at Stevens Stadium.
The Broncos (2-0) struck early and continued the offensive attack, scoring all four of their goals off of headers, with Maria Sanchez leading the charge by picking up three assists. Maddy Gonzalez added her team-leading third of the year and DB Pridham scored a goal and added an assist.
Santa Clara outshot Cal (1-1) 14-3 and held an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal, while keeping the ball in the Bears half of the field for much of the game.
