MALIBU, Calif. – For the last 22 years, Malibu has been a house of horrors for Santa Clara women's soccer, but Tuesday the No. 11 Broncos exorcised some demons and beat No. 24 Pepperdine 4-3 in double overtime to remain perfect on the year and in the driver's seat for a West Coast Conference title. It was the team's first win at Pepperdine since 1999, a streak of 10 losses in a row.
"I'm so proud of the team," Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith said. "Pepperdine is a very different soccer environment and field than we're used to at Santa Clara and credit goes to them because they've had our number on their field.
