SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Matt McCarty of the Santa Clara men's golf team had an impressive showing at a professional event in his hometown.
McCarty fired a final-round 3-under par 67 to finish tied for fifth at 4-under 206 in the 74th annual Arizona Open Championship, which was held Thursday through Saturday at Troon Country Club in Scottsdale.
Calum Hill, who just completed his collegiate career at Oregon State, captured the event with a 54-hole total of 10-under 200 (66-66-68), four shots ahead of defending champion Brian Cooper of Phoenix in the Southwest PGA tournament.
