SPOKANE, Wash. – A balanced offensive attack and solid defense helped Santa Clara men's basketball earn its second win over a Pac-12 Conference opponent this season.
Tahj Eaddy and Josip Vrankic each posted 16 points to lead five players in double figures for the Broncos, who held off Washington State, 79-71, on Saturday at Spokane Arena.
CJ Elleby and Marvin Cannon each scored 19 for the Cougars (7-6) who played without Robert Franks, the leading scorer in the Pac-12 Conference, and were held to 44 percent shooting from the field.
Guglielmo Caruso posted a career-high 14 points, Keshawn Justice added 12 and Trey Wertz scored 10 to go with a game-high seven assists for Santa Clara (8-6) which claimed its fifth-straight win by shooting a season-best 59 percent from the floor, including 9 of 20 from behind the 3-point line.
