SAN BRUNO, Calif. - After impressive performances in a pair of Santa Clara men's basketball victories, Trey Wertz earned West Coast Conference Player of the Week.
Wertz averaged 19.0 points on 56 percent shooting, 7.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds in leading the Broncos to a pair of wins last week.
Wertz was at his best in Tuesday's 102-92 double overtime upset of USC, posting a game-high 28 points, including 17 of the team's final 19, on 10 of 17 shooting from the floor, The freshman guard gave Santa Clara the lead for good at 89-87 with a layup to open the second extra session.
