LOS ANGELES – Rallies in the eighth and ninth came up just short as Santa Clara baseball lost to LMU 3-2 on Saturday night.
The Broncos (13-9, 4-4 WCC) scored twice in the eighth to get within a run and had the tying run on third with two down but couldn't bring him home.
In the ninth, Santa Clara put runners on the corners with two outs against the Lions' (12-15, 4-2 WCC) closer but he was able to escape the jam.
A trio of Broncos had two-hit games with Dawson Brigman, Robert Hipwell, and JonJon Berring all reaching the mark.
