SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Nate Kratch shot 13 for 16 for a career-high 29 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and scored the go-ahead basket in the final minute to help Santa Clara beat San Jose State 78-75 Saturday night.
The Broncos (2-7) never trailed after halftime and led by 11 with 7:24 left. The Spartans (4-4) rallied with a 19-8 run to tie it at 74 on Frank Rogers' 3 with 1:07 to go.
Kratch scored a basket with 48 seconds left that put Santa Clara back in front, and Kai Healy added two free throws for a four-point lead with 15 seconds.
