SAN MATEO, Calif. — Santa Clara University women's basketball freshman guard Tess Heal was named the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week award Monday for the fourth time in five weeks after helping lead the Broncos to a double-digit road win Sunday at Nevada.
Heal bounced back in a big way Sunday, scoring a game-high 26 points on the road at Nevada to lead Santa Clara (8-4) to its third consecutive win. Heal was coming off a week in which she averaged just 7.0 points per game in three contests. And with the Broncos traveling with a limited roster and playing at altitude in Reno, she stepped up with her third 20-point performance of the year by shooting 57.
