SAN JOSE, Calif. - Hannah Edwards tossed an eight-inning shutout and the Santa Clara softball bats came alive in the extra inning to take the midweek nonconference game 5-0 against San José State on Wednesday night.
Edwards (7-5) scattered five hits and walked two on 123 pitches while Morgan Salmon and Lauren LaHood came through with two RBIs each. The victory put the Broncos above .500 on the season at 22-21.
The game was scoreless through the first seven innings in a pitcher's duel between Edwards and Lacie Ham.
