SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Kicking-off the 2017 season, Santa Clara women's soccer clawed out a 2-1 victory over San Jose State on Friday night at Stevens Stadium.
With the score tied, Julie Doyle scored her first career goal in the 88th minute to put Santa Clara (1-0) on top 2-1. Doyle got the ball near the top of the box and turned to fire a rocket into the back of the net for the game-winner.
Despite the close score, Santa Clara was on the front foot on offense, especially in the first half when the Broncos attempted 10 shots and put eight on goal.
