SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball used its bats and a strong start from Cole Kitchen to beat Northwestern 12-4 in the 2022 home-opener at Schott Stadium Friday night.
Kitchen (1-1) was tremendous over 6 innings. He allowed just a pair of unearned runs and one hit with four walks and eight strikeouts. He didn't allow a hit after the second batter of the game, who he promptly picked off.
The Broncos (2-3) didn't fret after falling behind by two in the first and came back with four of their own in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good.
