SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara baseball's Mitchell White dealt one of the most impressive performances by a West Coast Conference pitcher this season on Saturday night. The right-hander pitched a complete game and struck out a career-high 15 batters while allowing only a single run to Portland in a 9-1 Bronco victory. He was recognized Tuesday as the Rawlings WCC Pitcher of the Week.
White threw 100 pitches, allowed only four hits and did not issue a walk. He tossed six 1-2-3 innings overall and retired 10 straight batters over the last four frames, including six straight strikeouts from the seventh through ninth innings.
