SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Nick Sando and Alex Reelfs combined for a four-hit shutout and Matt Jew hit a three-run home run in Santa Clara baseball's 5-0 series opening win over BYU on Thursday.
Sando made his first career start on the bump and gave up just one hit and struck out six over 4 2/3 innings, while Reelfs (2-0) pitched the remaining 4 1/3 innings to scatter three hits and fanned five to pick up the win.
Matt Jew provided the offense with a home run in the second with two men onboard against BYU starter Easton Walker (1-2) as part of a five run inning which saw nine Broncos come to the plate.
