SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball swept Washington in a doubleheader on Sunday. The Broncos (2-1) topped the Huskies (1-2) 13-7 in game one and 4-2 in the day's finale.
GAME 1 The rally got started with a home run by Manzo in the sixth and JonJon Berring followed with a two-run double. Manzo added his second bomb of the game in the seventh, this time a two-run blast, and Robert Hipwell added a solo shot of his own.
A late offensive surge, powered by the home run, led the Broncos to a victory in game one. Three runs in each of the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings proved to be the difference.
