SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball capped a three-game sweep of UC San Diego with an 8-4 victory Sunday afternoon. It was the team's fifth win in a row and sixth in the last seven games.
A six-run sixth for the Broncos (7-4) proved to be the difference. After the Tritons (6-7) took the lead in the fifth and added another run in the top of the sixth, Santa Clara jumped all over reliever Sam Hasegawa.
The inning began when JonJon Berring led off with his second triple of the day and after a walk put runners on the corners, Coleman Brigman's bunt brought in a run.
