Baseball Falls to UC Davis in Gifford Tournament Opener

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara baseball fell to UC Davis 8-0 in the opening game of the 2016 Jack Gifford Memorial Tournament Thursday night at Schott Stadium. The Broncos, playing for the fifth time in seven days, were outhit 13-3 by the Aggies.

Santa Clara right-hander Peter Hendron (L, 0-1) threw a quality start, allowing five runs (three earned) on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Luke Martin-Resnick pitched the final two innings of the game and allowed three unearned runs to the Aggies (2-4) in the top of the ninth.
