Four decades before being thrust back into the spotlight on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Bruce Jenner dedicated his life to becoming the “World’s Greatest Athlete.”
Three-and-a-half years before he captured a gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 summer Olympic games in Montreal, Jenner was just another track-and-field athlete looking to become the sport’s next big star. His path to Olympic greatness ran through the Bay Area with a stop at San Jose City College.
In 1972, Jenner met SJCC track and field coach Bert Bonnano after finishing 10th overall at the summer Olympics in Munich, Germany.
