SAN JOSE -- Coach Ron Caragher had a message after San Jose State failed to make a gutsy 2-point conversion in the final minute late Friday night in a heartbreaking 17-16 defeat to Brigham Young.
Despite the disappointment, Caragher urged his players to keep the momentum going that almost led to an upset of BYU in front of 15,652 fans at Spartan Stadium."Although we came up short on the scoreboard, let's continue" to play well, said Caragher, whose Spartans face the unenviable challenge of winning two of their final three games to become bowl eligible. It won't be easy with road games at Nevada and Hawaii the next two weeks, followed by the regular-season finale at home against Boise State (7-2, 4-1).
