San Jose State rolls in opener 43-13

Coach Ron Caragher couldn't decide on a starting quarterback before San Jose State's opener Thursday night, and the two contenders didn't make his job any easier in a 43-13 victory over New Hampshire before an announced crowd of 15,198 at Spartan Stadium.

Senior Joe Gray directed three first-quarter touchdown drives, and junior transfer Kenny Potter was almost equally efficient while adding to a lead that became 26-7 by halftime. The two combined to complete 20 of 23 passes for 320 yards in the first half as the Spartans shredded the 2014 Football Championship Subdivision national semifinalists."Now you guys can see why it's tough making a decision," Caragher said of the quarterback duel that is likely to continue.
