San Jose State QBs to take competition into season opener

SAN JOSE -- Coach Ron Caragher isn't ready to annoint a starting quarterback although San Jose State's 2015 season begins Thursday night against New Hampshire.

Joe Gray and Kenny Potter will take their competition into the game at Spartan Stadium against the No. 9 Wildcats of the Football Championship Subdivision."The next step for evaluation for a quarterback is an actual game," Caragher said Monday. "The nice thing is there is no rule that says we have to name a starter at a certain time for the convenience of the fans or the press."In his third season in San Jose, Caragher wants to see how his quarterbacks react while under real pressure before favoring one of the signal callers.
