SAN JOSE -- Quarterback Kenny Potter didn't offer any excuses after San Jose State's devastating 37-34 overtime defeat at Nevada.
It turns out he had one.Potter suffered from strep throat and vomited on the sideline during the Mountain West game in Reno, coach Ron Caragher said Monday during his weekly news conference."But he fought through it," the coach said, adding his quarterback was well enough to play.Potter became the first San Jose State quarterback in 30 years to rush for at least 100 yards in a game after gaining 116 yards in 19 carries. In 1985, Spartans quarterback Doug Allen gained 117 yards on eight carries against Fresno State.
