San Jose State punter Michael Carrizosa has been named one of three finalists for the Ray Guy Award, which goes to the nation's top punter.
Carrizosa, a sophomore from Salinas, leads the nation in punting average at 47.9 yards. Utah's Tom Hackett and Colorado State's Hayden Hunt are the other finalists.Carrizosa's season long punt is 73 yards and his net punting average is 41.8, with 16 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. As a team, the Spartans rank third nationally in net punting behind Utah and Colorado State.It's been a remarkable turnaround season for Carrizosa, who is arguably the country's most improved player.
