Despite a victory in the inaugural Cure Bowl, San Jose State coach Ron Caragher has decided not to retain defensive line coach James Jones and outside linebackers coach Joe Staab. Also being let go is Kirk Jones, the Spartans' director of football operations.
With the retirement of defensive coordinator Greg Robinson, Caragher will have three assistants jobs to fill for the 2016 season.James Jones, Staab and Kirk Jones all were hired in January, 2013, one month after Caragher replaced Mike McIntyre, who left the Spartans to become the coach at Colorado. Staab had been with Caragher for seven years, including four seasons at the University of San Diego, where Caragher previously coached.
