San Jose State's football team may have to do better than 5-7 next fall to make a bowl game.
After three teams -- including the Spartans -- earned bowl bids last season with losing records, the NCAA has approved a three-year moratorium on new bowl games, ESPN reported. There will remain 41 bowl games on next season's schedule, so it's hard to imagine truly deserving teams being left out of college football's postseason. But the NCAA Division I Council apparently has decided enough is enough, at least for now. The moratorium will preclude any new bowl games until at least 2019.
