SAN JOSE -- Ron Caragher is enjoying the absence of a quarterback competition as he embarks on his fourth spring football practice with San Jose State.
The Spartans kicked off the first of their 15 sessions Friday under skies at Spartan Stadium that alternated between glimpses of sun, light rain and for a brief period a heavy downpour.Kenny Potter ran the offense at quarterback and the senior has a solid grasp on that job after starting 10 games last year, including an MVP performance in the team's Cure Bowl victory over Georgia State."It is nice having a returner because you've got a field general out there who knows what he's doing and is confident," said Caragher, who hasn't had a returning starting quarterback since David Fales in his first season in 2013.
